Emma Meesseman led the Belgian Cats to victory over Germany in the EuroBasket quarter-final on Wednesday night.
Defending champions Belgium had to fight hard in the first half in Athens, but they proved themselves a cut above their opponents after the break, winning 83-59. Captain Meesseman scored 30 points, with 13 of them coming in a decisive third quarter.
The Cats will face Italy in the semi-final on Friday. France play Spain in the second semi-final, with the final scheduled for Sunday.
Whatever the semi-final results, Belgium are assured of qualification for next year’s World Cup in Germany thanks to their top 4 finish.
