Belgium’s national women’s basketball team the Belgian Cats have qualified for the quarterfinals of EuroBasket Women tournament. The Belgian Cat’s 72-60 win against the Czech Republic see them go through as group winners.
Ahead of their final group stage game, the Belgian Cats were already certain of qualification for the quarter finals following victories in their previous group stage games against Montenegro and Portugal. Their opponents in the final group stage game, the host country the Czech Republic, have also qualified for the quarter finals as runners up.
Going through as group winners means that Belgium will avoid the favourites France, the team that beat the Belgian Cats in last summer’s Paris Olympics. Our basketball women finished 4th there after having lost to Austria in the play-off game for Olympic bronze.
