A household from the Flemish Brabant city of Leuven got the shock of their lives when they opened a parcel containing a swimming pool that they had ordered online. Not only did the parcel contain all they needed to put the pool together, but there was also a live scorpion.

When they opened the box containing the pool, a 9cm-long scorpion crawled out. They called the Animal Rescue Service that was soon able to catch the scorpion safely and take it away. The Service was also able to identify the scorpion’s species.
"After a little, we believe it is the Heterometrus Petersii, a subspecies of the impressionable emperor scorpion," Animal Rescue Service said in a post on social media. "A sting from this species is painful but not lethal to humans. Still, it is not recommended that you get stung."
"The animal is believed to have come here in a parcel from Asia”
“This species is particularly common in Malaysia and Singapore. The animal was in pretty good condition and was transferred to the wildlife rescue centre for further care," Animal Rescue Service told VRT News.
