The Belgian Foreign Ministry is asking Belgians currently staying in Israel, Iran, the Palestinian Territories, Lebanon and Jordan to either register their presence online or report to the local Belgian embassy.
The Belgian Foreign Ministry always recommends that Belgians travelling abroad register their trip to/stay in a foreign country via the Travellers Online Website Home - Travellers Online .
However, given the escalating conflict between Israel and Iran, the Foreign Ministry is now also advising Belgians that are resident in several countries in the region to report their presence to the nearest Belgian Embassy or Consulate General.
Last Friday, the Belgian Foreign Ministry issued a statement advising Belgians against travelling to Israel and a number of other countries in the region. Since the end of last month Belgians, including those with dual nationality, have been advised not to travel to Iran whatever the reason.
No evacuation plans yet
Unlike some other countries, Belgium has not yet begun evacuating national from Israel and Iran. The Belgian Foreign Minister Maxime Prévot (Francophone centrist) has said that "Everyone is safe”.
Evacuation flights have already been organised by Slovakia, the Czech Republic and Poland. Meanwhile, Ukraine has urged its citizens to leave both countries "as soon as possible".
