Belgian fishermen are increasingly catching fish species they did not encounter before: this is being attributed to climate change. In February alone, for instance, 26 tonnes of octopus were landed. Octupus used to be a minimal bycatch but today volumes are 10 times higher than in February last year. The West Flemings are now even exporting some of the octopus caught here to southern Europe, whereas that used to be the other way round! Report: Tijs Neirynck.
