Palace examining the impact of President Trump’s bar on foreign students enrolling at Harvard
The Royal Palace says that it is currently taking its time to exam the US president’s decision in depth. It is currently unclear what impact it will have on the King’s oldest daughter’s education. It is also not inconceivable that President Trump will change his mind as has been the case in the past on other issues.
Professor Alain-Laurent Verbeke, who is currently a visiting professor at Harvard, told VRT Radio 1 that “It could be the case that President Trump makes an exemption for royalty as he his sensitive to that kind of thing. But that would of course mean that our royal family would then be sending out a strange signal”.
Half way through a 2-year course
Crown Princess Elisabeth has just completed her first-year exams. She is currently half way through a 2-year Master of Politics course at the university’s Kennedy School Campus. The course strives to "improve public policy and leadership so that people can live in safer, freer, more just and prosperous societies”.
Crown Princess Elisabeth was also selected for an Honorary Award from the Fulbright Program, the US State Department's international education exchange programme.
She will return to Belgium during the summer and will attend the National Day celebrations on 21 July.
