At around 9:15am on Sunday a chihuahua dog’s paw got stuck in one of the moving staircases at the Albert metro station in the Brussels municipality of Vorst.

The Fire Service and a technical team from the Brussels public transport company MIVB went to the scene and set about rescuing the dog. They eventually had to dismantle part of the escalator in order to free the chihuahua. The injured dog was then taken to a vet for treatment on its paw.

Walter Derieuw of the Brussels Fire Service told VRT News that "We advise pet owners to always carry small dogs when using an escalator”.
