The organisers of the Brussels Pride Parade that will take place on Saturday (17 May) expect around 200,000 people to attend. This is around the same number as last year. The slogan chosen for this year’s Brussels Pride is ‘Unite, time to protect our rights’. LGBTQIA+ groups call for renewed vigilance to ensure that the rights of LGBTQIA+ communities are protected.
Saturday’s event marks the end of Pride Week in Brussels. Members of the LGBTQIA+ community and their sympathisers, families and friends will take to the streets of the capital in their tens of thousands in a celebration of who they are and to raise awareness of issues that are of concern to them.
Pride Week started on Wednesday 7 May. It is a celebration of the resilience and culture of LGBTQIA+ communities. More than 60 events have been organised. Saturday’s Pride Parade will get under way at 2:30pm from the Kunstberg, not far from Brussels Central Station.
