A 17-year-old girl has been critically injured after falling off an e-scooter in the East Flemish town of Eeklo. She sustained a serious head injury and was taken by air ambulance to Ghent University Hospital.
The accident happened on the Zuidmoerstraat in Eeklo. How and why the girl fell off her e-scooter is still unclear. The police say that their initial investigation into the accident points to no one else having been involved. The girl was not wearing a crash helmet.
The accident led to the temporary closure of the Zuidmoerstraat. The street has since reopened.
