As was the case last year, there will be no Belgian representative at the 2025 Eurovision Song Contest. At the first of this year’s two semi-finals, Red Sebastian with his song ‘Strobe Lights’ was not among the 10 acts chosen to go though to Saturday final. This year’s Eurovision Song Contest is taking place in the Swiss city of Basel.
Belgium’s Red Sebastian fails to make it through to the final of the Eurovision Song Contest
At Tuesday evening’s 1st semi-final of 69th Eurovision Song Contest, 15 candidates competed for 10 places in the final. The Belgian entry Red Sebastian was not among the 10 artists that made it through to Saturday’s final. As was the case last year there will be no Belgian to cheer on during the final.
Sadly, for the West Fleming, Red Sebastian’s Eurovision dream ended on his 26th birthday. The VRT’s commentator in Basel Peter Van de Veire expressed the disappointment felt by hundreds of thousands of Belgians following the semi-final at home. “What a disappointment, I think that it is really terrible”.
Despite not making it through Red Sebastian’s performance of the rave number ‘Strobe Lights’, coloured the Sankt-Jakobshalle in Basel bright red as you can see in the photo below.
