King Filip in Pilsen to honour Belgian liberators of the Czech city

Last Tuesday Filip, King of Belgians, attended commemorations marking the 80th anniversary of the liberation of the Czech city of Pilsen.  At the end of the Second World War the city in the west of the Czech Republic, where lager beer was first brewed, was liberated from the Nazis by Belgian and American forces.  Few in Belgium are aware of what their fellow countrymen achieved in Bohemia.  Here their feats are celebrated annually during the liberation festival.  For the first time a king of Belgians attended. Pascale Mertens was with King Filip in Pilsen.
