Numerous taxpayers are currently getting no or difficult access to the government’s online MyMinFin platform. It was only on Monday that Belgian taxpayers were given a first opportunity to submit their tax returns for this year via the platform, but due to computer problems at the finance ministry logging in is sometimes difficult.
It's via MyMinFin and the Tax-on-web application that you can complete your tax return or view the tax return proposal the ministry has drawn up for you and adjust it, if necessary.
But logging on to MyMinFin has been very difficult for a lot of users all week.
The finance ministry has confirmed the issue. ‘There’s a problem with user identification that causes the system to overload after a while and that then has to be restarted,’ spokesman Francis Adyns explains.
The cause of the problem could not yet be identified. ‘The search is under way. Once the cause is found, we will be able to say more about the duration of the problem and its solution. Users will be forced to show some patience.’
Taxpayers still have time until 30 June to file their tax return on paper. If you do it online via Tax-on-web, you even have time until 15 July.
