Tuesday’s National Day of Action by Belgian unions is leading to more disruption than expected at Brussels Airport. All departing flights at the country's busiest airport are now cancelled on Tuesday 29 April. Earlier it had been said that 30 per cent of departing flights would not take off.
In normal circumstances Brussels Airport had expected about 470 flights to and from the airport tomorrow, accounting for 66,000 passengers. Fewer planes will now also land as planes that do not take off cannot return. The exact impact on arrivals is not yet clear, but fewer problems are expected because no security checks are needed. ‘The airlines are currently still adjusting their flight schedules,’ says spokeswoman Ihsane Chioua Lekhli.
Airlines are contacting passengers whose flights are affected to look for a solution.
