Biscuit manufacturer Lotus Bakeries is expanding its production capacity at its Lembeke plant in East Flanders. 100 new vacancies will be created, spread across various departments. The expansion is the result of increasing international demand for the popular Biscoff biscuit.
Lotus Bakeries creates 100 extra jobs thanks to ‘high demand for popular Biscoff biscuit’
Things are going well for the Lotus Bakeries plant in Lembeke. The plant made a profit of 156.3 million euros last year. That’s a 19 per cent increase compared to 2023. The popular Biscoff biscuit, which is now the world’s 5th best-selling biscuit, accounts for 56 per cent of the turnover.
According to production director Pieterjan Vereecke, the biscuit is so popular that expansion is necessary to keep up with rising market demand.
‘The additional production lines at the Lembeke plant will provide additional production capacity, enabling us to keep up with rising demand. We are proud to announce that we are creating 100 additional high-quality jobs in the region as a result."
Saturday is Jobs Day
Around 700 people currently work at the plant. The new jobs include positions such as machine operator, line operator, bakery operator and operator for Biscoff paste production.
On Saturday 26 April, Lotus Bakeries is organising a Jobs Day at the Lembeke plant. Visitors can learn more about vacancies and get a tour of the production unit.
