Bankrupt interior design chain Casa holds clearance sale

The official receivers of the Casa chain will be holding a clearance sale at 10 locations across the country from 14 April onwards. Casa filed for bankruptcy in March.

The receivers decided to organise a clearance sale as many products are seasonal. The sale will take place at Casa's 10 best-selling stores. An auction house will oversee the process.

The dates and locations of the sale are as follows:

On 14 and 15 April in Mechelen, Ostend and Bruges.

On 16 and 17 April in Lier, Knokke and Sint-Niklaas (Waasland Shopping).

On 18 and 19 April in Ghent, Elsene, Waterloo and Turnhout.

A 50 per cent discount will be awarded.

Hundreds of photos of the stock taken

Making an inventory of all Casa's products over the past few weeks must have been a gigantic undertaking.

In various depots and dozens of premises, hundreds of photos of all kinds of stock were taken. The entire stock then had to be entered into a digital “data room”. The receivers will use this databank to interest larger, prospective buyers.

‘Internationally, there is great interest in the stock,’ one of the official receivers is quoted as saying. ‘They include large companies that do regular buyouts.’

Casa in Belgium filed for bankruptcy in early March. The company could no longer pay its debts. As a result, 63 shops, a distribution centre and the head office in Olen (Antwerp Province) closed, impacting 544 employees.
