The family collected the motorhome at the port of Antwerp last Friday. ‘When they were checking the vehicle and refuelling the camper van they found several suspicious packages,’ Kristof Aerts of the public prosecutor's explains.  ‘The Canadians spoke with police officers, who were in the vicinity and they identified the contents as ‘probably cocaine’. The tourists were then escorted away, for their own safety, but also for an interview.’

After questioning, it was soon clear that the tourists were not suspects. Meanwhile, an investigation into who is indeed responsible for the smuggling is ongoing.
