The westbound carriageway of the E314 motorway at Heusden-Zolder in Limburg Province was closed for a time on Wednesday morning after a fatal accident. At around 1.30am a car that was being driven down the motorway the wrong way collided head-on with a lorry. The driver of the car died at the scene. The lorry driver and a passenger in the truck were slightly injured.

The exact circumstances surrounding the crash are still being investigated. Both the car and the lorry caught fire.
Anna Degraen of the Limburg prosecutor’s office told VRT News that "The driver of the car died at the scene. The lorry driver and his passenger sustained minor injuries. They were taken to hospital for treatment, but have since been discharged”
