Videos showing the man's attacks first surfaced on social media in late 2023. It is then that he posted a video showing him pouring out a bucket over two unsuspecting passengers on a Brussels metro train. Videos also showed how the contents of the bucket consisted of oil, beer, dry leaves as well as dog faeces. In total, about seven videos were posted at this time.

House search did not pass without incident

Brussels public transport company MIVB filed a complaint with the judicial authorities triggering an investigation that led to the arrest of the YouTuber in January 2024. The suspect, who calls himself ‘YaNike’, was released under conditions after a few days. However, he continued his attacks and in August last year was again visited by the police. During a search of his home he offered resistance landing him in jail once more. He was charged with failing to comply with the conditions of his release, abusive and unruly behaviour, possession of prohibited weapons, intentional GBH, destruction of public property and distribution of dangerous-looking substances.

The investigation is now complete. The suspect appeared in court in Brussels last week, which decided to refer him for trial to the correctional court. A date for the trial has not yet been set. The arrest of ‘YaNike’ has also been extended.
