Hubert is out, Hasi is in.

Besnik Hasi is Anderlecht’s new manager

Brussels football club Anderlecht has decided to start the play-off stage of the Belgian topflight competition with a new manager. David Hubert is paying the price for erratic results and the poor performances of recent months. Besnik Hasi, who has just been sacked by KV Mechelen, is his successor. Hasi is an ex-player and ex-Anderlecht coach. In 2014, he led Anderlecht to the league title.

Hubert exits after 38 games. His successor, the 53-year-old Kosovar Albanian has signed a contract until the end of this season with an indefinite extension option.

Hasi is no stranger to the club: he played there from 2000 to 2006, was assistant coach for four seasons and head coach for three. In 2014, he led the team to the league title.

Sports director Olivier Renard explains the decision to hire Hasi in a press release: ‘We are grateful to David for his work in recent months. We now choose to enter the decisive phase of the season with another manager and renewed dynamic.’

‘Besnik Hasi knows the ropes of Belgian football and also has experience of Anderlecht's demanding environment.’
