According to French media, the 7 others arrested include 3 Belgians and 4 French nationals. Francophone broadcaster RTBF reports that shots were fired during the police operation. One police officer and at least one suspect were reportedly wounded. The police officer is said to have sustained minor injuries.

The criminals allegedly planned a robbery targeting a vault in Germany, where banks store their cash. The police operation is the result of an investigation into the planned robbery.

Serious criminal and well-known name!

Ferrara is a major criminal and a well-known name in France, where he was convicted of robbery and attempted murder.

He twice escaped from prison, a first time in 1998, during a transfer to hospital. He remained on the run until 2002.

In March 2003, he again escaped, this time from Fresnes prison (Val-de-Marne) with the help of accomplices disguised as police officers, who attacked the prison complex using rocket launchers. He was arrested again four months later.

Ferrara was released from Réau prison in northern France in July 2022 after serving his sentence.
