As the strike by 2 of the smaller rail unions enters its 4th full day, once again there is considerable disruption to rail service across Belgium. Just 40% of Intercity (IC) services are running, while just a third of local (L) train services are running today (Tuesday 25 February). All so-called ‘P trains’, which are additional commuter train service that run during rush hour, are cancelled.

A spot check by VRT News at Antwerp-Berchem station confirms that all trains that the Belgian rail company NMBS said would be running are running.
Around 2 out of 5 IC rail services are running as 1 in 3 L and S train services. This is about the same level of service as on Monday. The raul passengers that VRT News spoke to on Tuesday morning expect to get to their destination, but had gone to the station extra early to ensure that they were able to get a train.
The rail company NMBS is keen to stress that it is doing its best with the staff available to get as many passengers as possible to their destination. You can see which trains should be running on the railway company’s website and its app.
