Police in Antwerp investigating the fatal stabbing near to the Sports Palace events venue on Thursday have apprehended a suspect. The 47-year-old suspect was detained not far from Antwerp Central Railway Station.
He was detained at around midnight on Thursday and is suspected of having stabbed a 52-year-old man on the Schijnpoortweg on Thursday afternoon. The Antwerp prosecutor’s office says that he will be questioned today (Friday 21 February).
Both the victim and the suspect often visited the Free Clinic, a centre for drug addicts and the homeless.
