23-year-old Karen Jansen from the Limburg town of Lommel is the new Miss Belgium. The psychology student succeeds Kenza Ameloot. She received heir crown and prize at Saturday evening’s pageant that was held in the West Flemish coastal resort of De Panne.
Karen Jansen is a psychology student and model. It was the second time that the 23-year-old from Limburg Province had taken part in Miss Belgium. The first time was in 2020 when Celine Van Ouytsel won the beauty pageant.
In an interview following her victory on Saturday Karen Jansen said "I was still too young and uncertain. I wasn’t ready. I learned a lot when I took part then and during the intervening years, I have learned to be myself and to believe in myself”.
The new Miss Belgium added "I have remained myself and have not mirrored myself on others. This is an indescribable feeling”.
Karen Jansen didn’t forget the other candidates either “I am incredibly grateful; we are all winners”.
This year’s two Maids of Honour are Jane Baesen from Bierges (Walloon Brabant) and Astrid Lafaut from De Panne (West Flanders).
