Wedding ring lost in football stadium reunited with its owner thanks to an appeal on VRT Radio 2

A man that lost his wedding ring at a football stadium has got it back thanks to an appeal broadcast on VRT Radio 2 Limburg. Aneke Vandeput from Heusden-Zolder (Limburg Province) found the ring while she was at KRC Genk’s Stadium at the weekend. The ring was engraved with the names Hilde and Philippe and the date of their wedding was also engraved.

Aneke Vandeput launched an appeal on Facebook and appeared on VRT Radio 2 Limburg’s lunchtime magazine programme in an effort to find the ring’s rightful owner.

She found the gold wedding ring last weekend on next to a seat at KRC Genk’s stadium. Aneke searched on Facebook but was unable to find anyone that had lost the ring. However, her radio appeal and an article on our sister site vrtnws.be resulted in her receiving a telephone call from the owner of the ring, Philippe.

Aneke told VRT News that "Via Radio2 and VRT NWS Philippe discovered that it was his ring. He had been working in the stadium and apparently the wedding ring was hanging on a chain around his neck. He hadn’t even realised that he had lost it”.

She added that she is relieved that the ring is back with its rightful owner. “A wedding ring is something of great sentimental value, so I really wanted to make an effort to find its owner. I am very happy that the appeal worked. The power of the media has done its job.”
