There Ryanair’s CEO  Michael O'Leary announced that from the start of the summer season the Ryanair will be flying from Charleroi to Katowice in Poland, Volos in Greece, the Italian capital Rome and the Italian city of Salerno. Mr O’Leary called Brussels Airport “one of the most expensive airports in Europe”.

It was not the first time that Ryanair’s CEO had criticised Brussels Airport during one of his press conferences. "Charleroi continues to grow thanks to its competitive tariffs and efficient facilities. Meanwhile, Zaventem continues to stagnate”. Mr O'Leary also said that other airports in Germany, France and the UK are too expensive.

Ryanair will not be launching any new routes from Zaventem. In addition to the 4 new routes from Charleroi there will be additional services on the around 40 existing routes from the airport.
