Motorists experienced traffic jams longer than usual on the clockwise Brussels orbital ‘Grote Ring’ this morning. The disruption was due to urgent road surface repairs in Zaventem (Flemish Brabant). The rush hour on the E19 Antwerp - Brussels motorway too was particularly difficult as a result this morning.

Dreadful morning rush hour on Brussels orbital and E19 due to urgent works at Zaventem

Work has been in progress on the clockwise section of the Brussels orbital for several months now with the intention of renovating the junction of the ring road with the A201 in Zaventem. Drivers have to contend narrower, temporary lanes. The asphalt on one of these lanes has been damaged and needs to be repaired.
A crack in the asphalt over a length of some 40 metres was only noticed on Tuesday. Road workers immediately started repairs. If weather conditions permit, the works will be completed by this afternoon.
