The macabre discovery occurred on Tuesday at a hotel on the Jean Reyplein in the capital's European District. The woman is believed to have checked in late last month but died shortly afterwards. It’s not clear how her body was only discovered now.

Federal police forensic technicians and a police doctor attended the scene.  ‘There were no indications of third-party involvement,’ says prosecutor's spokesman Amaury Verhoustraeten. ‘The body has meanwhile been released to the next of kin.’
