The Saint-Luc teaching hospital in the Brussels municipality of Sint-Lambrechts-Woluwe has cancelled appointments, planned operations and planned medical examinations on Wednesday due to major issues with its IT system. The issues came to light on Tuesday evening. The hospital has said that the issues are not the result of a cyber-attack.
Patients that had already been admitted to the hospital will still be able to be given treatment “in all safety”. However, all non-emergency admissions have been cancelled on Wednesday as have all appointments for consultations and medical operations.
Patients that have already been admitted to the hospital will, in so as this is possible, still be able to undergo medical examinations that require the use of technical apparatus.
The hospital also says that it will do all it can, to ensure that dialysis and chemotherapy can be given as planned.
Patients in a non-life-threatening condition that go to A&E at Saint-Luc will be referred to other hospitals.
