A group of 60 naturists paid a visit to the Body Works exhibition that is currently being held at Oud Sint-Jan in the West Flemish city of Bruges. On display at the exhibition are plastinated bodies. These are bodies that have been preserved using a special technique. One of the visitors, all of whom were naked for the duration of their visit, told VRT News that “What you see here has everything to do with the human body and nothing to do with sexuality. This is also the case with naturism”.
On Saturday evening around 60 naturists paid a visit to the Body Worlds exhibition in Bruges. Since it opened several months ago the exhibition has attracted more than 100,000 visitors.
On Saturday evening 60 members of the naturists’ association Naked Freedom visited the exhibition. The were given a guided tour and information about the exhibits. That have been preserved for eternity by the German Doctor Gunther von Hagens.
"With Naked Freedom we often visit exhibitions like this one that have a link to nakedness”, Jan Ghilain told VRT News. "We are just naked, but they are stripped to the bone. The only drawback is that it was a little bit chilly to start with”.
"As naturists we take every available opportunity to walk about in the nude”, one participant that wishes to remain anonymous told VRT News. “To be as we are, in complete freedom. This is not easy here in Belgium”.
Her partner added that “There is still a taboo surrounding naturism. Because people invariably associate nudity with sexuality. But, like this exhibition, naturism has nothing to do with that at all. What you see here has everything to do with the human body and nothing to do with sexuality."
