With temperatures falling to -15°C in Elsenborn in the East of Liège Province and 0.2°C in Zeebrugge (West Flanders) Monday night was the coldest night so far this winter. However, temperatures will rise during the next few days and the forecasters say that we will not see a night as cold as Monday night during the rest of January.
-15°C on the High Fens, but temperatures set to rise during the latter half of the month
With temperatures of -7.4°C at Kleine-Brogel (Limburg), -6.2°C in Deurne (Antwerpen Province) and -2.5°C in Oostende (West Flanders) last night was very cold indeed. The coldest place in the country was the village of Elsenborn, in the East of Liège Province. The only place in Belgium where the minimum temperature didn’t fall below freezing was Zeebrugge, in West Flanders (0.2°C)
However, temperatures are set to rise, so another night last Monday is not on the cards for the rest of the month at least. The forecasters also say that there won’t be any more snow this month either. However, it is still too early to say whether we can expect more freezing temperatures and/or snow next month.
