‘Snow that is there can stay there for a while’

It’s stopped snowing in many places by now. Only in Limburg and the southeast of the country, more snow showers may still occur. ‘In Liege, for example, code orange still applies, as up to 10 centimetres may still fall from the heavens today,’ says weather forecaster Jacotte Brokken.

The snowfall may have stopped, but that does not mean that the snow that is already on the ground will immediately disappear. On the contrary. According to Brokken, that snow may remain for a while. Thursday night it will eventually become dry everywhere, but temperatures will remain around freezing. This means people should beware of slippery conditions almost everywhere.

Tomorrow looks like becoming a sunny day. ‘Tomorrow temperatures will barely go above freezing, and this weekend too we will continue to hover around that figure.’

Code yellow warning from 5PM

The Met Office has warned against slipperiness conditions across the country. From 5 pm, a code yellow warning is once again in force due to the threat of slippery conditions. The warning is valid until tomorrow afternoon.

Tonight it will again start freezing. After snow yesterday and today roads are wet and in some places there is still snow that can freeze and turn to ice. Here and there snow may still occur.
