Salary of half a million white collar staff to increase by almost 3.6% this month

There is good news for more than half a million white collar workers in offices across the country as their wages will increase this month by 3.58%. The increase is thanks to the system that ensures that wages in Belgium are increased at regular intervals to match inflation.

With year-on-year inflation in Belgium standing at 3.16%, the HR services company SD Worx calculates that the annual index-linked pay increase for a large group of clerical staff will be 3.58%. This means that someone that previously earned 3,000 euro gross per month will from this month be paid 3,107.4 euro gross per month.

Those that will receive the increase work in braches of the economy that are covers by Joint Committee 200. This covers a wide range of clerical jobs including call centre work, publishing and printing.

Those that work in industries covered by Joint Committee 200 see their wages increased once annually to match inflation. The increase takes effect on 1 January. In 2023 their wages rose by 11%, with a more modest increase of 1.48% taking effect last year.
