Police in the West Flemish city of Kortrijk have received more than 20 reports from women that say that their drinks were spiked while they were on a night out in there. The figures were confirmed by the West Flemish public prosecutor’s officer on Monday.
Since May last year more than 20 people have reported incidences of drinks having been spiked to the police. The drinks were allegedly spiked with drugs or medication with the aim of sexually abusing, raping or robbing the victim.
The police searched a number of properties on 23 October in Kortrijk’s entertainment district. This resulted in the arrest of several suspects. However, since then the public prosecutor's office had remained tight-lipped about the case. On Monday it emerged that the number of victims that have already come forward no exceeds 20. Meanwhile, the investigation is still ongoing.
