Complaint lodged against Israeli military attaché in Brussels

The Brussels-based not-for-profit organisation Hind Rajab Foundation has lodged a complaint with the prosecutor at the International Criminal Court in The Hague against the Military Attaché at the Israeli Embassy in Brussels. Moshe Tetro (43) was appointed Israeli military attaché in Brussels this summer. Previously Mr Tetro had been in charge of providing access to supplies of aid to Gaza.

Humanitarian aid for the people of Gaza and the way in which the Israeli authorities have dealt with it is form a central plank of the arrest warrant issued by the International Criminal Court against the Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.

Colonel Tetro headed the unit that controlled the flow of humanitarian aid into the Gaza Strip. He managed the various border crossings into Gaza. In the international media he persistanty denied that there was famine and a shortage of medicine and water in Gaza. His words contrasted with repeated warnings given by the UN.

The Chair of the Hind Rajab Foundation Dyab Abou Jahjah told journalists that “This is a key figure in the implementation of Israeli policy directed towards hospitals and Israeli’s strategy of using famine and thirst as a weapon of war”.

For its part, Israel says that Colonel Tetro is a respected army officer. The Israeli Ambassador Idit Rosenzweig-Abu told the daily ‘De Morgen’ that “There was no objection to his appointment, and he received full diplomatic accreditation. Israel is acting in accordance with international law.”
