The 2 men who stole an ambulance in Antwerp last September to go joyriding have been given an 18-month prison sentence. Those convicted by the Antwerp court are the driver and one of the passengers in the stolen ambulance. The third person involved is a minor and will have to appear before a juvenile court. The judge labelled the behaviour of the threesome ‘anti-social and disrespectful’.
In early September, an ambulance was called to Antwerp’s Luchtbal district for an urgent medical intervention. The emergency workers parked the vehicle in Manchesterlaan leaving the vehicle unattended.
3 youngsters, one of whom was still a minor, got into the ambulance, drove off and later abandoned the vehicle in Belfaststraat.
The joyriders were quickly identified and charged. Today an Antwerp judge passed sentence on 2 of the defendants. They must serve an 18-month prison sentence.
