Several thousand households in two municipalities in the Kempen area of Antwerp Province were without electricity for one and a half hours on Wednesday morning due to a technical fault. Homes in Rijkevorsel, Beerse and the village of Vlimmeren were affected by the power cut.
The electricity supply went off just before 7am leaving thousands of households without light and in some cases heating. Stijn Saelens of the electricity grid management company Fluvius told VRT News that the power cut was caused by a fault at an electricity transformer station in Beerse.
"We received a report about the fault at 6:52 am. Our technical team went to the site to repair the fault”. Electricity supplies were eventually restored after around one and a half hours.
