Weather forecasters warn of slippery condition on the roads and the chance of snow in some areas

The Royal Meteorological Institute (KMI) warns of slippery conditions on the country roads on Wednesday night. Temperatures are expected to plummet to below 0°C in many areas of the country and there is a chance of snow for some.

Published:

The evening will start off dry in the north, central areas and the east of the country. Cloud will increase in these areas as the night goes on. This could result in a scattering of snow in Antwerp, Limburg and Liège provinces. Minimum temperatures will fall to between -4°C and 4°C.

The lowest temperatures (-4°C) will be on the High Fens. In central areas temperatures will drop to between 2°C and 0°C. Temperatures at the coast will fall to 4°C. Wintery showers are a real possibility.

In areas where it remains dry KMI warns of icy patches on roads, pavements and bicycle paths.

Thursday will be dry, but cloudy. It will be cold with temperatures reaching no higher than -2 on the High Fens and 5°C at the coast. Friday will also be cold with a chance of snow.

Temperatures will increase significantly during the weekend. Saturday will be cool with temperatures falling to between 2°C and 7°C. Cloud will increase with some light rain. On Sunday temperatures will rise to between 13°C and 17°C.
