In a statement the Brussels-Capital-Elsene Local Police Service said “This morning a letter containing a suspicious substance arrived at the address of the State Security Service on the Koning Albert II-laan. It was a letter containing a white powder. Our officers are at the scene as is the Fire Service.”

A person that came into contact with the letter has been placed in quarantine and taken to hospital. Initial reports state that there is no reason to suspect that they have become infected.
