The Zaventem (Flemish Brabant)-based airline Brussels Airlines has announced that it will be extending its suspension of flights to and from the Israeli city of Tel Aviv up to and including 15 December. Previously Brussels Airlines had suspended flights to and from Isreal until 25 November. The decision has been taken for safety reasons.
In September the Lufthansa Group, of which Brussels Airlines is a part, decided to suspend all flights to Tel Aviv and the Iranian capital Tehran. This followed the beeper attack carried out by Israel on thousands of Hezbollah militants in Lebanon. Brussels Airlines normally flies 5 times a week to Tel Aviv.
In addition to the current situation in the Middle East and the safety and security issues that are related to it, Brussels Airlines says that issues finding crew to man the flights and a fall in demand for flights to Isreal have also played a role in its decision to extend its suspension of flights to Tel Aviv until the middle of next month.
Passengers with bookings on flights that have been cancelled can either rebook or request a refund.
