In Antwerp an examining magistrate has arrested a suspect in connection with an attempted burglary at footballer Toby Alderweireld’s. Last week, thieves tried to break into the footballer's villa in Kapellen (Antwerp Province) while he was due to play with FC Antwerp. During their escape, the two burglars fell into Alderweireld's swimming pool and during the subsequent police chase crashed their car.

The Antwerp public prosecutor's office is attempting to track down several suspects involved in the attempted break-in. Several burglars were recorded on CCTV footage at the former Spurs player’s home.
The thieves wanted to break into Alderweireld's villa in Kapellen while the footballer was playing for Antwerp. His wife was at home at the time. After an earlier break-in, Alderweireld purchased a Dobermann guard dog named Darco. Presumably its presence deterred the thieves.
