Home interior chain Casa is seeking judicial protection in the courts to allow a reorganisation of its business the Olen-based international group has just announced. The procedure should give the company, which after a turbulent period has insufficient funds, ‘the necessary breathing space to re-secure the continuity of its activities’, the firm says.

In 2023, Casa International had over 2,500 employees and some four hundred shops in eight countries (Belgium, the Netherlands, Luxembourg, France, Switzerland, Italy, Spain and Portugal). As part of a recovery plan to return to profitability by 2026, the group this year closed or sold 46 shops in a number of countries and also reduced its workforce. At the beginning of the summer, Casa also organised a big clearance sale.
More details about the shop closures and job losses Casa would not disclose today. The company is only prepared to say that jobs will disappear ‘both at the head office and in the rest of the organisation’. In Belgium, Casa currently still operates 64 stores and has 415 employees, 310 of whom working in stores.
