Works on Brussels orbital ring road at Anderlecht start today: expect delays!

The Brussels Mobility agency is today starting repair works on a bridge on the greater Brussels orbital ring road in Anderlecht. Only 2 lanes on the orbital will remain open in both directions. For drivers heading both towards Groot-Bijgaarden and Halle, traffic jams delaying journeys for up half an hour, or more are expected during the rush hour.

The motorway bridge over the Sylvain Dupuislaan is cracked and in urgent need of repair.

In a first phase - lasting until 20 December - the bridge on the inner ring road will be addressed. Traffic is being directed over the outer ring road on two narrower lanes in both directions. A speed limit of 50km/h applies. During the rush hour, drivers may be delayed for anything up to 45 minutes.

Motorists in Dilbeek who want to access the outer ring road from the Ninoofsesteenweg (N8) cannot do so directly but must take a detour via the parallel road along the ring road and the Dupuislaan slip road.

The second phase - the renovation of the bridge on the outer ring road – is scheduled for 2025.
