Just like at Brussels Airport, all departing flights from Charleroi Airport will be cancelled tomorrow 1 October. This decision was taken in response to trade union action against what the unions call unacceptable conditions in the security, cleaning and catering sectors.
All departing flights at Charleroi and Brussels airports cancelled on 1 October
No planes will be able to take off from Charleroi Airport tomorrow after all due to union action, an airport spokesman now says. Initially, the airport operator thought it would be able to allow a limited number of planes to take off, but it now appears that there will not be enough security staff present to allow this. Passengers scheduled to fly out from Brussels South Airport tomorrow will receive information from their airline.
Arriving flights should be able to land at Charleroi.
Last Friday, Brussels Airport in Zaventem (Flemish Brabant) announced all departing flights would be cancelled tomorrow 1 October as well. This will affect tens of thousands of passengers.
Trade unions are organising a demonstration in Brussels to demand respect, decent working conditions and fair wages for catering staff, cleaners and security guards.
