A 41-year-old man has been arrested after a 42-year-old woman was found dead at her home in the Limburg municipality of Kinrooi. The man was arrested on Tuesday evening. He is reported to be the dead woman’s former partner. However, the prosecutor’s office will not confirm this.

The woman’s body was found at around 6pm on Tuesday evening at a house in the Zielderveld area of Kinrooi. Officers from the CARMA Local Police Service went to the house and informed the prosecutor’s office. The area was cordoned off while it was searched for clues.
The woman had suffered a violent death and as such the police treated her death as suspicious. Forensics officers and a pathologist attended the scene.
Later on Tuesday evening a 41-year-old man from Kinrooi was arrested. VRT News sources say that he is the woman’s former partner. The prosecutor’s office has appointed an examining magistrate to carry out a murder investigation. The local police service and the Federal Judicial Police will jointly carry out further investigation into the suspected murder.
