Fewer buses and trams in Flanders on Monday due to industrial action by staff at De Lijn

Many bus and tram services in Flanders will be cancelled on Monday 23 September due to a one-day strike by staff at the Flemish public transport company De Lijn.

The unions that represent staff at De Lijn have called a strike in protest at the work roster that management wishes to implement in 2025. Management and the unions continued talks in an effort to resolve the dispute until Thursday evening. Although the talks have been described as “constructive” no agreement has yet been reached and Monday’s strike will go ahead.

In a statement De Lijn said that it regrets that services used by people wishing to get to work or school will be disrupted. The Flemish public transport company will draw up an emergency timetable that will be operational for the duration of Monday’s strike.

The timetable will be available on De Lijn’s website and in its app from Saturday afternoon.
