On Friday 6 September the life of one Belgian woman changed for ever when she won 149 million euro on EuroMillions. Two weeks later she has reacted publicly for the first time to becoming a multi-millionaire.
The Walloon daily ‘L’Avenir’ reports that the woman only recently came forward to the Belgian National Lottery to claim her jackpot win. A lottery spokesperson told the paper “She contacted us, thinking she had won a large sum, but didn’t know how large it was. This the third-largest jackpot ever paid out in Belgium since the EuroMillions began”.
The lucky winner is someone that only occasionally plays EuroMillions. When she does play she prefers to leave everything to pure chance. “When I see that the jackpot has reached a high amount, I try my luck in at the newsagents. I always opt for the QuickPick (lucky dip) and let fate decide”, the woman told the Belgian National Lottery.
She is all too aware that she has won an incredible amount of money and wishes to take time to think about the best way to use the money she has won. "My loved ones are most important to me. With this win, I can support and provide them with greater financial security. As regards myself I plan to go back to college.My first wish is to buy a new car so that I can regain a certain amount of freedom again”, the jackpot winner said.
