The man’s body was found wrapped in a tarpaulin in a Renault Laguna car that had been abandoned in woodland at Maarheeze in the Dutch province of North Brabant. The car that had a Belgian number plate had been parked there for some time before the police made the gruesome discovery.

On Tuesday it emerged that in addition to an investigation opened by prosecutors in the Netherlands, the Limburg public prosecutor's office had opened a parallel investigation into the man’s death. The prosecutor's office now confirms that several searches were carried out. One of the properties searched was swingers’ club in Maaseik. The proprietors of the club have since been arrested.

Thanks to close cooperation between Belgian and Dutch investigators the 2 suspects were traced and apprehended. They are a 51-year-old man and a 33-year-old woman. They have been formally arrested. Meanwhile, the investigation continues.
