Limburg public prosecutor launches own investigation into death of man from Masseik, swingers’ club searched

Following the opening of a murder investigation by Dutch prosecutors, the Limburg public prosecutor's office has now also opened a murder investigation into the death of a 57-year-old man from Maaseik (Limburg province).

The man’s body was found last weekend wrapped in a tarpaulin inside a car at Maarheese, in the Dutch province of North Brabant. As part of the investigation police have conducted a search at a swingers’ club in Maaseik. What exactly if any the connection is between the swingers’ club and the man’s death is not yet clear. Nor is it clear whether any evidence was gathered during the search.

The Limburg public prosecutor’s office is remaining tight-lipped about the case and will only say that it has opened a murder investigation that is “running in parallel to the Dutch investigation”.

The man's body was found on the back seat of a car last weekend. It had been wrapped in a tarpaulin that had been taped up. The car had a Belgian number plate and had been abandoned on a remote road in woodland. The victim was identified as being 57-year-old man and from Maaseik in Limburg Province.

The Dutch police immediately issued an appeal for witnesses and have said that they are “following up several leads”.
