The unions that represent staff at the Flemish public transport company De Lijn are calling on their members to take strike actions from Monday 23 September. The call to take strike action comes after negotiations between unions and management broke down.
Unions call on staff at the Flemish public transport company De Lijn to strike from 23 September
Stan Reusen of the socialist sector union ACOD told the press agency Belga that “The level of flexibility that is being demanded from our members is no longer realistic. This is not just about drivers but also about all other staff.”
Management at De Lijn management hopes that a solution can be found to resolve the dispute before next Monday.
The unions are calling for talks to be organised at a local level to resolve issues that their members have regarding work schedules and timetable changes that are planned for mid-2025. The unions want to postpone these changes, while management at the public transport company sees no reason to do so. The unions also want to see some services that had been abolished during previous modifications to the timetable reintroduced.
