A woman has died near the Docks Bruxsel shopping centre in Brussels after being hit by a tram. The precise circumstances surrounding the accident are as yet unclear.
The accident happened around 7.30am on Tuesday morning on the Fabriekskaai, near to the tram stop at the Docks Bruxsel shopping centre. The Brussels Fire Service attended the scene and several ambulances were dispatched. However, the woman was already dead.
The Brussels Fire Service spokesman Walter Derieuw has confirmed the woman’s death. An eyewitness to the accident was taken to hospital suffering from shock. How exactly the accident happened is not yet clear.
The Fabriekskaai remained closed to traffic o Tuesday morning. Services on Brussels tram line 3 have been suspended.
